How we do it

Experience & Culture

For more than 20 years (at Practico and previously at Ellis Grant) we have worked closely with leading law firms and specialist counsel to manage the costs issues arising in high value and complex civil cases.

The core team at Practico has grown up together and is widely experienced in handling large and challenging costs cases. We have consistently added value to the service our professional clients provide to individuals and corporate entities.

Change & Reform

We have never been afraid to think differently. We recognised from the earliest days of the Jackson review that for high cost cases the costs assessment system was not fit for purpose.

We have been actively involved since 2009 in the policy review that has resulted in a move away from retrospective costs assessment towards prospective costs management in civil litigation. We are ideally placed to support law firms through the emergent changes.

Tools & Knowledge

We have invested in acquiring new skills and adaptive case management technology to ensure that we are equipped to deal with the varied costs and compliance issues that have accompanied the Jackson reforms.

We have been instructed in many of the test cases for the new procedural regime (including Henry and Mitchell) and continue to find improved ways to analyse and present dependable costs information and costs-specific legal argument in a concise and digestible form.
